Why Create The Yesterdog Documentary?
Our documentary makers at Creo Productions, LLC originally intended to make a short promo video—after three days, two nights, 15 dogs and 63 interviews—we knew Yesterdog had something most restaurants only fantasize about: grub buzz and zealous customer-advocates. We needed to find out what makes it all tick.
Plus, what fun is life if you never have any fun? Relax. Laugh. Eat. // top
Who are the actors?
Trick question: There are no actors, hired guns or propagandists in The Yesterdog Documentary. All footage is authentically original and was shot on location at Yesterdog—the majority during the 2006 Halloween weekend.
All people interviewed agreed to participate in The Yesterdog Documentary. // top
What if I’m a Yester-Virgin?
Ah, yes, we met several Yester-Virgins in West Michigan, even sojourners from distant lands like Colorado and Holland (Michigan, that is). While Yesterdog won’t do it for everyone, most agree, you never forget your first time. If you’re afraid, watch the DVD and witness former Yester-Virgins testify in the name of the dog. // top
What’s the secret ingredient in Yesterdog’s chili?
You’d have a better chance coaxing the sacred Bush’s Baked Beans recipe from a talking golden retriever than squeezing Yesterdog’s secret chili recipe from owner Bill Lewis. He wouldn’t even tell us, but did share a controversial statement about hamburgers. // top
Is there a Yesterdog Secret Society?
Thanks for asking, that’s an important question. We tried our best to pry classified information out of Yesterdog’s employees, but they adamantly denied the existence of any Secret Society of Yester. However, we’re not 100 percent convinced. // top
Do Yesterdog employees receive benefits?
Yes, employees at Yesterdog are eligible to receive health benefits. If that doesn’t sway you to apply, Yesterdog employees also receive a lion’s share of free hot dogs. Mmm. // top
What if I’m a vegetarian?
You’re in luck! Yesterdog isn’t only about the meat—they have Veggie Dogs, too. However, we talked to a vegetarian and former Yester-Virgin who couldn’t resist the Yesterdog. Hey, who can blame her? // top
Does Yesterdog have “secret dogs”?
Yes, Yesterdog has “secret dogs” not on the menu for “those in the know”—but we’re not dropping names here. Go on, we know you're feeling compelled to go to Wealthy Street to pick up a Cheddar-$!#@. // top
What happens at Yesterdog late at night?
Nighttime at Yesterdog is a sight to see for adults—many stakeholders call it “The Bar Rush.” Our crew spent two late nights at Yesterdog over Halloween and the Tigers’ World Series weekend, where we captured some of our most hilarious and enlightening interviews.
You have to see it to believe it. Trust us, it’s spicy. // top
Is Yesterdog for lovers?
I’m glad you asked, Cupid.
Yes, Yesterdog is the home to many first dates that often pave the road to marriage. Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls—there’s nothing more romantic than a long mosey down Wealthy Street and a piping hot Yesterdog with extra onions and kraut.
Breathe the love in deep, now. Mmm. // top
How long is The Yesterdog Documentary?
Good question. We spent the winter panning for proverbial cinema gold, pulling out the best footage we could find. In the end, The Yesterdog Documentary is about 25 minutes long, with an additional 45 minutes of special features. It’s a beautiful combination of documentary and comedy, all commercial free. // top
Where can I buy The Yesterdog Documentary?
Treasures like The Yesterdog Documentary are rare. You can order it online or pick up a copy at Yesterdog. It'll also be available at Yesterdog.com. // top
What if I’m addicted to Yesterdog?
Know that you’re not alone. We talked to numerous Yesterdog addicts, including the tandem who hold the Eastown record with 128 consecutive days of dining at Yesterdog (minus Sunday’s, it’s closed).
We suggest you watch The Yesterdog Documentary DVD and start a YA support group. // top
